James was born in 1974, today he works as a full time professional artist from his studio which is based in the market town of Whittlesey near Peterborough.
He was initially trained as a technical illustrator but by the time he left college in 1996 the industry had moved away from traditional drawing and on to computers. Not wishing to embrace this new medium James decided to turn to fine art and quickly established himself a high reputation as a realist artist.
Sally Mitchell started life as a dealer in antique sporting paintings, later writing ‘The Dictionary of Equestrian Artists’ published by The Antique Collectors Club, still the seminal work on the subject. She subequently moved into publishing Limited Edition prints over 40 years ago and Sally Mitchell Fine Arts was born! It is still a small family run business and we take great pride in showing what we believe to be some of the finest countryside, canine, equestrian and wildlife paintings in Europe, even the world! We also strive to produce very high quality prints, cards and gifts and to supply them promptly!
